A research strategy is simply a set of rules in which must be met for a match when its analysed by our system for it to be considedered a pick. To go into a little more detail, your strategy will consists of one or many threhsolds (See below section for more detail on thresholds) and a few more general rules such as exclude cup games or friendlies etc. Every football match every day will be applied against these set of rules and if they pass all the conditions it will be become a research pick. Once a match is a research pick for your strategy, the successfullness of the pick will be determined against the betting market you have selected. Let's go through an example. I want to make a research strategy to find winner's of football matches based on recent form. The first step will be to select the number of past matches that will analysed for both teams in the fixture. If Man Utd were playing Norwich City, the system will go through the last X number of games for Man Utd & Norwich City and apply each match in their history agains't your strategies rules and thresholds. If all conditions are met it will be marked as a research pick and you'll be notified and able to track if it was successful for your strategy.
A threshold is essentially a rule that must be met for a match to be considered for a selection for your strategy. Most research strategies will be made up of many thresholds which in their selves have customisable conditions such as which team of the fixture should this rule be applied to. A threshold will also be assigned a value and a operator in which determines how to use the set value. I know it sounds a bit complicated but lets take a look at an example. Our example will be that our strategy is to find winners of matches based on recent form. A good approach to this would be to set up thresholds to find matches that one team has lost 80% of their previous fixtures and the other team must of won 80% of their fixtures.
When the system analyses matches for your strategy every game that has one team who has won 80% of their last X number of fixtures as well as the opposing team needs to have lost 80% of their previous fixtures. If these conditions are met for the match then it'll be will become a pick.
Thresholds allow you to fully control the conditions on your strategy and how matches are analysed against your strategy, you can be either as simple or complex as you'd like. The results of the picks found for your strategy will determine its successfulness and if something isn't working you can tweak the thresholds or add additional etc. One important note, when using Team A or Team B as the team for the threshold condition, the system will use Team A as the Match Winner(if your strategy needs a match winner) so in regards to the example above Team A needs to have won 80% of their previous matches. So Team A from the fixture will be selected at the match winner outcome for the pick.
A pick is a football match that has been found that passes all your strategy's thresholds. It's outcome will be tracked against the betting market set on your research strategy, so if your strategy was to find matches where over 2.5 goals will be scored. The picks outcome will determined by if the match goes on to have over 2.5 goals, if so the pick will marked as a success otherwise it will be deemed a loss.
When viewing matches available in the matches tab, all games will have a percentage value next to them. This value is determined by the dropdown selection tool found at the top of screen which allows you to choose a common betting market. The system will calculate the percentage of that occurence of that outcome based on both teams last 10 games combined. It's simply a quick tool to allow you to gauge whether a game may be worth looking into in more detail.
