The UK government’s white paper on gambling, which was intended to modernise outdated laws and provide guidance for the future, is still not yet ready to be released despite a delay of over a year.

However, it seems that progress is finally being made. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) has announced that an internal committee will launch an inquiry into UK gambling. The actions that the committee takes will be based on requests from various government agencies.

As a result, the inquiry will probably need to be completed before the DCMS can release the white paper. This could lead to significant changes to the draft that the government had planned to release in September 2020.
